In July 2012, the popular song “When We Stand Together” by the group “Nickleback” was adopted as the theme song for the Association. This followed support from the membership on the suitability of the song after they were afforded the opportunity to listen to and view a video of the song.
Voluntary Monthly Contributions
In an effort to generate much needed funds for the effective and efficient functioning of the Association, a “fifty dollars ($50.00) voluntary monthly contribution per member” initiative was devised by the Executive and implemented in October 2011. The Assistant Secretary Jerome Jagroop was tasked with the responsibility to manage the initiative and has done an extraordinary job since it began. Support for the initiative was quite positive and continues to be encouraging to date. Funds generated have been used to support members who lost a loved one, to host foreign visitors, to purchase tokens for foreign visitors and to assist in the hosting of various events.
Annual Service Through Friendship Awards
The “Annual Service Through Friendship Award” was introduced in December 2008 to recognize the invaluable contribution of members, spouses and friends of the IPA. It is intended to stimulate Service Through Friendship in keeping with our motto and is presented in three (3) Award Categories: Membership, Honourary Membership and Service. Awardees are presented with commemorative plaques/tokens at our Annual Awards and Cocktail Reception held in January of each year.
